Here at LearnElementsNow I have been asked the question, “Which Version of Elements Should I Be Using” so often that I felt it best to put my answer down on paper and try to sort out this dilemma once and for all.
The first thing that you want to do is understand how Adobe has broken down their Photo Editing Software; they have created two separate categories of programs. If you are beginning to learn how to use photo editing software then Photoshop Elements is the program for you, whereas Photoshop is aimed towards people who have experience using editing software programs and wish to make more advanced editing adjustments to their photos. Most people tend to start by using Elements and when they become more experienced they will move onto Photoshop.
Ok, now every so often Adobe update their Elements software to a new version, and currently we are at Elements 7. When they decide to update the software, it is normally just to keep one step ahead of all those hackers out there, who would rather steal their product.
If you have been using Photoshop Elements for a while already and are wondering if you should invest in the latest upgrade I recommend that you put your money towards the latest version of Photoshop, currently in CS4, as it would include any tools you may be missing out on in Elements.
If you want to learn how to use Elements proficiently then I recommend you look into any one of the variety of tutorials that are available on the market and which are pretty much universal to the versions. Don’t worry too much if the screen in the video appears different from yours as the videos are designed to help you out with 90% of the tools on any Elements version.
All versions of the programs have the basic tools to make your photos the best possible so don?t worry about purchasing the latest version available on the market.
